Job summary

Marion Polk Food Share is seeking an AWARE Pantry Coordinator I to support warehouse operations and volunteer guidance at the Woodburn pantry. The role includes customer service, client intakes, and coordinating distributions with the Pantry Manager.

The position offers part-time hours (32 weekly) with a bilingual differential for strong oral proficiency in Spanish, and is a temporary assignment from October 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Evening and travel requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Supports on-site and mobile food pantry operations, including stocking shelves and guiding volunteers.
• Provides excellent customer service to clients, volunteers and donors.
• Under Pantry Manager direction, supports volunteers and training priorities.
• Assists with client intakes, answering phones and reception.
• Handles client information confidentially and redirects to resources as needed.
• Acts as on-site lead during pantry distributions when senior staff are away.
• Manages warehouse inventory and communicates needs to Pantry Manager.
• Restocks shelves during distributions and helps unload deliveries.
• Maintains clean warehouse and lobby areas; handles dunnage, totes, bins, and disinfecting.
• Drives pantry vehicles for food donation pickups and mobile distributions.
• Uses pallet jacks and forklifts safely; follows food safety and civil rights procedures.

Title: AWARE Pantry Coordinator I

Position Type: Limited Duration Part-time (32 hours per week)

Salary: $18.91 - $20.70 per hour

This position is eligible for a 5% bilingual differential, if the successful candidate meets the Food Share standard on an oral proficiency exam.

This is a Temporary Position that is expected to begin October 1, 2026 and end January 15, 2027.

Summary of Role: The Pantry Coordinator supports operations of AWARE Food Bank in Woodburn, Oregon, in collaboration with the Program Manager. This position will assist with warehouse operations, provide guidance to volunteers, and coordinate distributions of food to the public.

Your responsibilities as the AWARE Pantry Coordinator I will include:

• Supports all aspects of on-site and mobile food pantry operations, including stocking shelves, checking inventory, providing client customer service and guiding volunteers.
• Provides excellent customer service to clients, volunteers and donors.
• Under direction from the Pantry Manager, supports and guides volunteers. Assists with volunteer training and identifying priority tasks for volunteers.
• Assists with client intakes, answering phones and reception.
• Handles client information in a confidential, professional manner.
• Makes client referrals to other community resources as needed.
• Serves as an on-site lead, as needed, during pantry distributions when the Pantry Manager and other pantry staff are away.
• Manages warehouse inventory and practices FIFO. Communicates inventory needs to Pantry Manager.
• Restocks shelves, as needed, during pantry distributions.
• Assists with unloading of food deliveries and sorts food in proper places.
• Maintains a clean and organized warehouse and lobby. Sorts dunnage cleans totes and bins, cleans warehouse. Disinfects and cleans regularly.
• Drives pantry vehicles, including box truck and van, as needed for food donation pickups and/or mobile pantry distributions.
• Regularly utilizes pallet jacks and forklifts in a safe manner for warehouse management.
• Adheres to all applicable food safety and civil rights rules and regulations pertaining to USDA, ODHS and Oregon Food Bank food pantry operating procedures.
• Supports weekly mobile farmworker food distributions, including driving, set up and distribution coordination at remote, outdoor locations. Requires evening hours and up to 1 hour round trip travel time to distribution locations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Conditions:

Work may be performed at a workstation and in a warehouse/store environment. May frequently lift, move, and carry objects more than 50 pounds. Work is subject to varying indoors and outdoors temperatures and road and walkway surface in all seasons. May work or travel out of the local area and work outside normal working hours, such as evenings and weekends, as needed.

Remote work is NOT possible for this position.

The Food Share provides essential services to our neighbors in Marion and Polk counties. As a result, all Food Share employees may be asked to report to work during local public health, weather, or other environmental emergencies.

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen (excluding THC) and full background check, including eligibility to work with vulnerable populations.
• Must pass driving record check and be insurable through Marion-Polk Food Share’s vehicle insurance policy.

The most competitive / strongest candidates will possess a combination of the following background, skills, experience, and knowledge.

• 1-year experience in warehouse work, food services, food retail or other related field desired.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Forklift certification a plus, but not required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and full background check, including driving record check.
