Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. seeks an Assistant Vice President of Commercial Surety to drive profitable growth through strategic agency relationships, market development, and strong team leadership in the Cincinnati area.

You will build and lead a team of underwriters, ensure adherence to underwriting standards, and manage a regional book of business with P/L responsibility. The role requires deep surety knowledge, analytical decision-making, and the ability to develop strategic plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g. AFSB, CPCU) is preferred.
• Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in underwriting roles within the surety industry.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial position is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of underwriters and support staff.
• Maintain strong surety product knowledge and document complex accounts in management systems.
• Grow book of business and manage profitability objectives; build strategic relationships.
• Develop and execute a regional strategic plan to expand the surety portfolio.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Build relationships with agents/brokers and internal stakeholders to address inquiries and issues.
• Implement underwriting best practices and streamline workflows for efficiency.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure underwriting accuracy and consistency.
