Job summary

Jonus Group seeks an AVP, Professional Liability & Cyber Claims to lead high-impact insurance claims from intake through resolution. You will steer complex matters with sound judgment and clear communication, collaborating with internal and external experts.

Responsibilities include interpreting policy language, directing investigations, developing a robust claim narrative, and managing reserves and reports for stakeholders. Senior leadership required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of claims handling experience in Professional Liability (D&O, E&O, EPL, Cyber, Fiduciary, etc.).
• Experience with Employment Practice Liability-related claims is highly desirable.
• Juris Doctor preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of sophisticated Professional Liability-related claims from intake to resolution.
• Interpret policy language and make coverage determinations with speed and precision.
• Direct investigations with internal specialists and outside experts.
• Develop the claim story, assess responsibility, quantify loss and exposure.
• Establish and manage indemnity and expense reserves with documentation.
• Produce focused risk/status reports for stakeholders.
• Manage external partners such as defense counsel and vendors.
• Represent the company at mediations, settlements, hearings, or trials when needed.
• Build credibility with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal partners.
• Maintain an organized portfolio and drive files toward resolution.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and fair claims practices.

Our client, a nationally recognized insurance carrier, is seeking an AVP, Professional Liability & Cyber Claims to serve as a senior individual contributor within their claims organization. You’ll be trusted with high-impact matters at the intersection of technology, risk, and insurance. This role calls for sharp judgment, clear communication, and the confidence to independently steer complex claims from intake through resolution.

Salary

• $140,000 to $170,000+/year base salary (based on experience)

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in claims handling Professional Liability (D&O, E&O, EPL, Cyber, Fiduciary, etc.) or a closely related field
• Experience with Employment Practice Liability-related claims is highly desirable

• Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses (resident/home state and additional states as needed)

• Developing the claim story as it unfolds- assessing responsibility, quantifying loss, and evaluating financial exposure
• Establishing and actively managing indemnity and expense reserves, supported by clear rationale and documentation
• Producing focused, high-quality reports that summarize risk, strategy, and status for stakeholders
• Managing external partners such as defense counsel, forensic vendors, and other service providers
• Representing the company at mediations, settlement discussions, hearings, or trials when required
• Building credibility and trust with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal business partners
• Maintaining a well-organized portfolio of active claims and proactively driving files toward resolution
• Ensuring all handling complies with regulatory requirements and fair claims practices standards
