Job summary

The Hartford in Hartford, CT (hybrid) is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Modernization to own a portfolio of initiatives that streamline underwriting, modernize platforms and accelerate capability delivery for underwriters, agents and customers.

Reporting to the Head of Transformation, you will lead product teams, shape the modernization roadmap, measure outcomes, and partner across business and technology to drive adoption and sustained value.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience in transformation, modernization, strategy, product management, operations or consulting.
• Demonstrated ownership of a modernization portfolio that spanned multiple functions or business units.
• Proven success influencing senior business and technology executives in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience leading and developing teams of product owners or managers.
• Strong blend of strategy and execution with measurable business outcomes.
• Ability to simplify complex processes and drive adoption with data-backed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of modernization initiatives across underwriting, product, operations and technology.
• Modernize underwriting workflows, tooling and supporting platforms.
• Identify and remove handoffs, rework and low-value controls across core processes.
• Identify automation and AI opportunities and move use cases into production at scale.
• Define a multi-year modernization roadmap and refresh it as priorities change.
• Lead and develop product owners with a culture of accountability and collaboration.
• Communicate progress, risks and outcomes to executive audiences.
