Job summary

Venerable seeks an AVP, Managing Actuary to lead complex actuarial analyses for in-force management, new business, and strategic initiatives. You will collaborate with Finance, Risk, and IT, mentor junior staff, and present results to senior leadership and investors where appropriate.

You will evaluate product features, modeling approaches, and hedging strategies, while guiding process improvements across the actuarial function and ensuring compliance with VM-21 and related NAIC requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance or related business discipline
• FSA or Career ASA desired
• 10+ years financial, insurance industry, or actuarial experience
• Ability to focus on 'big picture' view while driving into details
• Ability to understand modeling nuances and challenge modeling approaches
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to varied audiences with appropriate detail
• Strong software skills (VBA, Python, R, SQL, Power BI); comfortable using AI
• Strong presentation skills for executive audiences; creating concise PowerPoint materials

Responsibilities

• Create analysis related to block management actions including policyholder offerings, assumptions, investments, funds, and new business flow
• Contributes to due diligence of new deal opportunities for in force and flow opportunities
• Support Actuarial Function with researching regulatory changes impacting VM21 reserves and capital (NAIC)
• Support capital and earnings projection enhancements and related models (investment income, hedge gains/losses)
• Improve process efficiency across Finance, Risk, and IT teams
• Mentor junior staff on highly technical topics and communicate results to stakeholders
• Interface with senior or executive leadership on presentation and messaging of results
