Job summary

Ategrity Specialty Insurance Company in the United States seeks an AVP, Underwriting – Life Sciences to lead complex Life Sciences accounts, price risk, and manage broker relationships. The role blends technical underwriting with commercial judgment to support profitable growth and portfolio development.

You will coach underwriters, collaborate across Claims, Actuarial, Legal, and Product teams, and represent the company in broker meetings and industry events while maintaining strict adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 7+ years of commercial insurance underwriting, with complex casualty experience.
• Life Sciences underwriting expertise across pharma, biotech, devices.
• Strong knowledge of coverages including products liability, GL, auto, WC.
• Proven track record in profitable new and renewal business.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage Life Sciences business within authority and appetite.
• Own book performance and monitor premium, profitability, retention, and rate.
• Drive profitable growth by maintaining a pipeline with brokers.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance across Life Sciences sectors.
• Lead broker and market development with brokers to expand relationships.
• Maintain a strong market presence at broker meetings and events.
• Support portfolio management and underwriting reviews.
• Advance underwriting capabilities with guidelines, tools, and processes.
• Lead and develop underwriting talent across the organization.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Legal, Operations, Product, and leadership.
• Ensure compliance with authorities, guidelines, and workflows.
