Job summary

Sompo Holdings, Inc. in Chicago, IL, seeks an Assistant Vice President to lead our Large Property underwriter team within Industry Practice.

This on-site role focuses on evaluating complex real estate, hospitality and financial services risks, reviewing submissions, and ensuring adherence to Sompo guidelines. You will review applications, set pricing, use advanced pricing models, and maintain strong relationships with insureds, agents and brokers nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of underwriting/insurance experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Proven ability to underwrite real estate, hospitality, financial institutions and professional services.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Detail-oriented and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Review applications and determine risk acceptability per guidelines.
• Analyze pricing components and use pricing models to rate risk.
• Document underwriting decisions and prepare rate appeals when needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with insureds, agents and brokers.
• Lead and mentor junior underwriters in the Large Property team.
