Job summary

Mott Community College is seeking an Associate Vice President of Human Resources to lead all HR functions, including labor relations, talent management and benefits administration. Reporting to the President, this senior role shapes policy, strategy and workforce development for approximately 450 full-time staff and 300 part-time faculty.

The AVP will oversee payroll, compensation, risk management, and HRIS, driving DEI initiatives, retention and employee success across the college.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in human resources.
  • Labor relations experience with bargaining, grievance, contract administration.
  • Proven design and management of HR functions with proactive change.
  • Understanding of HR policies, procedures and employment laws.
  • Experience with HRIS/HRMS and standard office software.
  • Experience implementing diversity, equity and inclusion talent management programming.
  • Strong customer-oriented service history.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide strategic direction for all HR functions and operations.
  • Represent the College in talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, payroll, and risk management.
  • Oversee labor strategy, contract administration, and dispute resolution.
  • Drive retention practices and DEI-focused talent management.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and employment laws.
  • Report to the President and serve on the senior management team.
