Job summary

Colorado College seeks an Associate Vice President for Human Resources to provide strategic leadership across talent acquisition, rewards, performance, and HR analytics. This role partners with campus leaders to ensure equity, inclusion, and compliant HR practices align with the College’s mission and Block Plan culture.

Reporting to the CFO, the AVP-HR leads a transformational HR function, oversees budgeting, and guides staff development while advancing a high-performance, service-focused team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible senior-level HR leadership experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree in HR, public administration, business administration, organizational development, or related field preferred.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
  • Higher education experience preferred, including familiarity with shared governance, faculty personnel matters, tenure systems.
  • Ability to navigate complex academic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with campus leadership to communicate HR initiatives and redesign processes to support strategic priorities.
  • Embed equity and belonging principles into HR policies, processes, and employee experience across the College.
  • Consult with external counsel on employment, litigation, and compliance matters as needed.
  • Advise senior leadership on workforce strategy, organizational design, and HR program budgets.
  • Lead evaluation and optimization of HR information systems and analytics, including AI-enabled applications.
  • Oversee employee relations, policy development, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Design and administer competitive compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs; lead talent acquisition and workforce planning.
  • Drive organizational development, change management, onboarding, training, and leadership development.
