Job summary

Abacus Group, LLC seeks an Associate Vice President to join our Manhattan, NY office, overseeing multiple legal entities and US GAAP financial reporting. You will present quarterly results, collaborate with treasury, tax, and FP&A, and drive process improvements in accounting operations.

The role requires 3–8 years in financial accounting within financial services and a CPA is highly preferred. Strong Excel skills and project management are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3-8 years of related experience in the financial accounting group of a financial services company.
• CPA highly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
• Advanced analytical and Excel capabilities, project management skills, and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial accounting and controllership functions for multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Present quarterly consolidated financial results and significant accounting developments to senior leadership, highlighting key transactions and their impact on financial performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including financial reporting, treasury, tax, regulatory accounting, FP&A, and technical accounting to ensure consistent accounting treatment.
• Direct accounting support for complex transactions, new accounting standards, financing activities, and organizational restructuring initiatives.
• Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, consolidations, intercompany transactions, expense accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Review consolidated financial statements, balance sheet substantiation, income statement analyses, and variance reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting, external financial disclosures, financing documentation, and audit support while maintaining compliance with applicable reporting requirements.
• Strengthen accounting operations through process improvements, enhanced internal controls, system optimization, and coaching and development of accounting personnel.
