Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an Underwriting Manager for its Excess & Small Commercial team. Based in Boston or Atlanta, you will underwrite General Liability and Property, help grow the E&S Small Commercial product, and collaborate with partners across the organization.

The role requires at least four days in the office per week, and offers eligibility for an annual bonus. A senior, highly experienced underwriter with strong leadership and collaboration skills will

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of Small Commercial insurance experience.
• Technical underwriting skills with expertise in property and casualty underwriting.
• Experience underwriting General Liability and Property business.
• Experience interpreting policy forms.
• Ability to work from the Atlanta or Boston office at least four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Support the build-out and profitable growth of the Excess & Short Small Commercial book of business.
• Evaluate, select, and price small commercial General Liability and Property accounts.
• Apply sound underwriting judgment to assess risk and make account-level decisions.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with distribution partners and intermediaries.
• Contribute to the development of underwriting appetite, guidelines, and policy forms.
• Collaborate with internal partners to advance the new E&S Small Commercial product.
• Represent BHSI with integrity and demonstrate leadership in the marketplace.
