Job summary
The Hartford is seeking an AVP of Software Engineering to lead the Digital Enablement portfolio, including Enterprise Marketing capabilities. You will translate tech strategy into roadmaps, drive secure, scalable digital capabilities, and manage ~50 software engineers across multiple teams.

Qualifications
- 16+ years of technology or software engineering experience, including 7+ years leading multiple teams, leaders, or a complex engineering portfolio.
- Experience leading a sizable software engineering organization, ideally 40+ FTE, through managers and senior technical leaders.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry such as insurance or financial services is a strong plus.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and responsible AI practices in an enterprise environment is a strong plus.
- Deep understanding of modern software architecture, APIs and integration, cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
Responsibilities
- Set engineering vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Digital Enablement and Enterprise Marketing technology capabilities.
- Lead an organization of about 50 FTE software engineers through multiple leaders and cultivate inclusive culture.
- Oversee complex programs and product portfolios with clear outcomes, governance, risks, and delivery.
- Provide executive oversight for digital platforms, marketing capabilities, APIs, and shared services within Digital Enablement portfolio.
- Establish engineering standards for architecture, secure code, automated testing, observability, and reliability.
- Advance cloud adoption, platform modernization, CI/CD, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
- Drive responsible AI adoption to improve productivity, quality, and experiences with governance.
