Job summary
The Hartford is seeking an AVP of Software Engineering - Digital Enablement to provide strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio that includes Enterprise Marketing capabilities.
You will guide a high-performing team of ~50 engineers, translate business and technology strategy into executable roadmaps, and deliver secure, scalable digital solutions for enterprise, customer, distribution, and marketing needs.
Qualifications
- 16+ years of tech or software engineering experience.
- 7+ years leading multiple teams or a complex portfolio.
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as insurance/financial services is a plus.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and responsible AI practices is a plus.
- Strong understanding of modern software architecture, APIs, cloud, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and enterprise delivery models.
Responsibilities
- Set engineering vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Digital Enablement.
- Lead a ~50 FTE software engineering organization through multiple leaders.
- Oversee complex programs, ensure predictable execution and governance.
- Drive modernization of platforms, marketing tech capabilities, and shared services.
- Ensure governance, risk, and security align with enterprise standards.
