Job summary

The Humane League is seeking an Associate Vice President of Philanthropy to lead the development department by overseeing global donor relations, including one-to-one donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

The AVP will drive a portfolio-based fundraising strategy focused on major gifts, mid-level growth, planned giving, and long-term donor value, while guiding a team of Philanthropy Officers and serving as a frontline fundraiser with a portfolio of high-capacity donors.

Job description

The client is seeking an Associate Vice President of Philanthropy to help lead the development department by overseeing global donor relations, including one-to-one donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This role is expected to generate over half of The client’s annual fundraising revenue and to advance sustainable, mission-aligned growth for a high-impact organization working to end the abuse of animals raised for food.

The Associate Vice President of Philanthropy will drive a relationship-centered, portfolio-based fundraising strategy focused on major gifts, mid-level growth, planned giving, and long-term donor value. The position will lead and coach a team of Philanthropy Officers while also serving as a frontline fundraiser, managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors and securing five- to seven-figure gifts. The AVP is expected to bring deep expertise in donor strategy, including experience guiding complex solicitations and advising senior leadership and board members, as well as strengthening fundraising capabilities across the organization.
