Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Commercial Surety in Dallas, TX. The role leads a team of underwriters, builds strategic agency relationships, and drives profitable growth across the region.

You will develop risk-based underwriting standards, mentor staff, and partner with brokers to expand the portfolio while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and corporate policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance required.
• Advanced degree or professional certifications preferred (e.g., CPCU, AFSB).
• 10+ years in underwriting, with 5+ years in leadership or supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, supervise and guide a team of underwriters and support staff.
• Demonstrate strong surety bond product knowledge and manage complex commercial surety accounts.
• Build and manage a profitable book of business; exceed profitability objectives.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to grow the surety portfolio and maintain P/L responsibility for the region.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve issues.
• Implement underwriting best practices and process improvements to streamline workflows.
• Travel up to 40% to support regional growth and partner engagement.
