Job summary

Qualifications

• Public accounting background, ideally in audit.
• 5–7 years in finance or accounting roles or equivalent controls experience.
• Solid knowledge of financial accounting; hands-on in reconciliations and audit evidence preparation.
• Sound judgment to assess automated/AI-generated outputs.
• Bachelor's in accounting, finance or related area; CPA or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Decide when automated outputs are ready for Finance production.
• Own reconciliations, run variance analysis, investigate root causes, report to Finance leadership.

Job description

Our client, a financial services firm in New York, is hiring an AVP, Accounting and Finance AI Enablement to protect the accuracy of financial outputs and the strength of controls as its Finance teams adopt automation and AI.

Responsibilities

• Act as the second reviewer on automated results and AI-assisted calculations, applying professional skepticism and escalating anomalies.
• Help decide when automated outputs are ready for Finance to use in production.
• Own key Finance reconciliations, run variance analysis and investigate root causes, reporting results to Finance leadership.
• Run and document financial controls, keep evidence audit-ready, and track exceptions through remediation.
• Serve as the main contact for audit and compliance questions across finance transformation work, preparing walkthrough materials and working with internal audit and the external auditors.
• Flag audit risk created by process or technology change.
• Partner with an automation analyst so AI-enabled workflows are built with the right accounting treatment, controls and auditability from the start.
• Explain accounting considerations and control requirements to Finance, Tax, Treasury, Risk and Technology teams.

Requirements

• A public accounting background, ideally in audit.
• 5-7 years in finance or accounting roles, or equivalent controls experience.
• Solid financial accounting knowledge and hands‑on experience with reconciliations, audit evidence preparation and financial controls.
• Sound accounting judgment to critically assess automated and AI-generated financial outputs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Bachelor's in accounting, finance or a related area.
• Pluses: a professional accounting credential; time in a Finance or Controllership function; experience guiding accounting teams in automating workflows with AI; familiarity with Oracle, Essbase, Tableau and similar reporting and treasury platforms.
