Job summary

Thomas Global Systems is seeking an experienced avionics technician at Level 3 to join our avionics and defense team in Irvine, CA. The role covers testing, calibration, documentation, software updates, and strict regulatory compliance with FAA standards.

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have avionics certification or related education, and possess strong attention to detail, teamwork, and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Relevant technical education or avionics certification is preferred.
• Prior experience as an avionics technician or in a related field is advantageous.
• Proficiency in using specialized avionics test equipment and software.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of FAA regulations and of defense industry standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical dexterity and the ability to work in confined / dark spaces.
• Confirmed NEGATIVE results for drug and alcohol testing in compliance with 14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40.

Responsibilities

• Testing and Calibration: Conduct build and calibration on avionics and defense equipment to ensure they meet industry and regulatory standards.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including equipment manuals, test results and updating work order status as required.
• Software Updates: Update and load software programs into systems with latest firmware and navigation databases.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure repairs and maintenance meet FAA regulations and industry standards.
• Tidiness: Maintain and clean test equipment and work area.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols when working with electronic systems on aircraft.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technicians.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated through training and development to maintain certification.
• Ad hoc: Perform other duties as required by management.
