Varda Space Industries, Inc. in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Systems Engineer II, Avionics to oversee design, integration, and testing of avionics systems for our Winnebago Spaceship.

The role requires deep knowledge of avionics design, manufacturing processes, and operational protocols to ensure readiness for launch and reentry. You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams, develop electrical architectures, and lead HITL verification efforts to meet mission objectives for space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of system design, test planning, and validation experience.
• Proficiency in Python for development and debugging.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes andRequirements from concept to prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults and risks; create mitigation plans and support FDlR or workarounds as needed.
• Design and execute verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware.
• Participate in mission operations as an avionics specialist or system operator to assess health and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversee integration of Winnebago avionics systems and act as the primary contact for investigations.
• Build and operate HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft and ensure mission readiness.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and test racks to power and communicate with flight vehicles.
• Mentor and train junior engineers to foster learning and continuous improvement.
