Job summary

Acron Aviation in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Specialist, Software Engineering Functional Lead to manage a team of avionics software engineers and contribute hands-on engineering on programs.

You will interface with project leads, product owners, and systems engineering to plan, design, and test transponder, RF and sensor-based software in safety-critical environments, applying DO-178 practices and advancing automation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS or EE or equivalent.
• 4+ years of real-time embedded software experience.
• Experience leading software teams and execution of programs.
• DO-178 development experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency in C and safety-critical software processes.
• Access to information subject to U.S. export controls; U.S. Person required.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for software tasks for Surveillance projects; coordinate with offshore engineers.
• Partner with Product Owners, Project Leads, and Systems Engineering on priorities and milestones.
• Remove impediments and drive predictable execution to meet milestones.
• Track delivery metrics and ensure process compliance.
• Influence AI adoption and automation within software development workflows.
• Support DO-178 compliance and safety-critical program objectives.
