Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an embedded software engineer to support the Chassis Tester Software team on the New Glenn program. You will write Linux instrument drivers, architect hardware-in-the-loop test frameworks, and build operator-facing tools that run on the test floor to determine pass/fail for flight-critical hardware.

You will collaborate with avionics hardware engineers to validate driver behavior, operate within defined envelopes, and contribute to automated test execution and results

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional software coding and engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Python or C++.
• Experience developing software on Linux OS.
• Experience with the networking stack — socket programming, UDP/TCP.
• Hands-on experience writing hardware interface software — instrument drivers.
• Git workflow discipline, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal customers to capture requirements, negotiate scope, and deliverables to meet Program milestones.
• Design and implement production-quality instrument software drivers for test instruments
• Work directly with avionics hardware engineers to understand instrument behavior, define operating envelopes, and validate driver correctness against hardware specs
• Architect and extend automated test execution frameworks
• Implement check logic, pass/fail criteria, limit management, and structured report generation for acceptance and qualification test campaigns
