Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Section Manager to lead a 13–17 engineer Avionics team across multiple subsystems. This dual-hat role combines functional leadership with hands-on engineering, aligning staffing and performance with program goals.

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day operations, mentor staff, oversee budgets, and drive training and development while collaborating with IPT leads and program managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8+ years of related engineering/military experience, or Master’s degree and 6+ years.
• Lead or management experience in a team environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government Secret clearance (in-scope/Continuous Evaluation) and program access.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

Responsibilities

• Maintain current technical statement of work (SOW) on a program while leading and developing a team of approximately 13-17 engineers.
• Assess staffing needs and coordinate with IPTs to address those needs.
• Support recruiting activities including requisitions, interviews, and offers.
• Partner with program managers to set and evaluate goals and merit adjustments.
• Provide career development, mentoring, and recognition to team members.
• Acquire necessary computers and tools to enable team performance.
• Meet indirect budget targets and interpret guidance for implementation.
• Ensure training for successful achievement of program goals.
• Communicate status to the Avionics Integration organization and represent the group.
