Job summary

Mach Industries is seeking an avionics-focused engineer in Huntington Beach to join a fast-growing defense tech team. You will work across avionics hardware and software, collaborating with GNC, software, mechanical, and thermal groups to ensure a unified, tested platform for unmanned capabilities.

Ideal candidates have 1–4 years in unmanned systems, familiarity with PX4/Ardupilot, MAVLink, RF, Linux, and CAD tools, and a strong passion for aviation and defense tech.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience with unmanned aerial systems.
• PX4 & Ardupilot development—basic understanding of concepts.
• QGroundControl & Mission Planner—configuration and mission planning.
• Understanding of Pixhawk, MAVLink, sensors, and how they’re used in UAS.
• Knowledge in RF systems—SDRs, configuration, basic comms troubleshooting.
• Network & analysis—Wireshark, iperf3, IP networking diagnostics.
• Fundamental electronics—power systems, schematics, PCB debugging, Altium.
• Lab tools—Oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, soldering, power supply.
• Software & OS—Linux environments, GitHub.
• CAD for prototyping—Any.
• System architecture/visualization—Lucidchart/draw.io.
• Clear technical documentation with version control.
• Work under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Passion for aviation, unmanned systems, and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Development and integration of Avionics systems.
• Define and maintain avionics functionality with vehicle iterations.
• Develop block diagrams of system functions and interfaces.
• Collaborate with vehicle teams to define electrical and system requirements.
• Support for Iron-birds, prototypes, and projects.
• Troubleshoot avionics in hardware and software; devise solutions.
• Integrate and test new systems and sensors with prototypes.
• Design and support post-integration configurations and checks.
• Create processes, procedures, and provide technician training.
• Run tradeoffs of different systems and components.
