Job summary

Archer is seeking a Design Engineer - Avionics Integration in San Jose, CA to lead the integration of avionics systems for our all-electric VTOL aircraft. You will own interfaces, maintain CAD models, manage configurations, and collaborate with manufacturing and supplier teams to optimize mass and performance on accelerated development timelines.

You will perform trade studies, support test plans, analyze data, and drive process improvements while contributing to a culture focused on safety,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 2–15 years of system-level integration and interface management experience.
• Experience generating BOMs and managing change control processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and document interfaces between avionics subsystems and airframe.
• Maintain avionics envelope CAD models and keep out zones.
• Manage avionics configuration and pedigree/version history.
• Assist in defining assembly processes and standardizing across the dept.
• Collaborate with manufacturing for seamless integration.
• Maintain mass budgets and identify weight optimization opportunities.
• Perform trade studies to optimize system integration and performance.
• Support test planning and validation for thrust unit assemblies.
• Analyze test data and implement design improvements.
• Coordinate with sourcing and quality for component qualification and inspection.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input.
• Drive improvements to processes and develop new procedures.
