Job summary

Jobtailor in Colorado seeks an experienced avionics hardware engineer to lead design, test, and integration of lunar vehicle systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to certify C&DH and PMAD components and develop interfaces and verification plans, from concept through lifecycle sustainment.

The role requires a BS in Electrical/Computer/Aerospace, 6+ years in space-grade avionics, and hands-on experience with MIL-STD/DO-160 and DO-254/DO-178. Up to 20% travel, U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related field.
  • Experience with avionics hardware build and test.
  • Hardware design experience in SRR, PDR, CDR reviews.
  • Knowledge of requirements development and verification.
  • Experience with verification plans and reports for certification/qualification.
  • US citizen, national, or eligible for visa as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop avionics components for Lunar Vehicles within Core Avionics.
  • Collaborate with engineers to define, test, and certify avionics hardware.
  • Develop, manufacture, integrate, and test C&DH and PMAD components.
  • Develop product requirements and define interfaces.
  • Support DU and flight hardware builds, integration, and testing.
  • Develop and implement verification and qualification strategies.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for hardware failures and mitigation plans.
  • Contribute across full product lifecycle from conception to sustainment.
  • Collaborate with partners across technical functions.
  • Travel up to 20% and work mostly first shift with some evenings/weekends.

Job description

  • Develop avionics components for Lunar Vehicles within the Core Avionics organization
  • Work with engineers to define, test, and certify avionics hardware
  • Develop, manufacture, integrate, and test Lunar Command and Data Handling (C&DH) and Power Management and Distribution (PMAD) components
  • Develop product requirements and define interfaces
  • Support engineering development unit and flight hardware builds, integration, and testing
  • Develop and implement verification and qualification strategies
  • Conduct root cause analyses for hardware failures
  • Develop mitigation plans for hardware failures
  • Contribute across the full product lifecycle from conception through sustainment
  • Collaborate with partners across multiple technical functions
  • Support C&DH and PMAD Responsible Engineers in avionics box lifecycle development
  • Travel up to 20% of the time
  • Work predominantly first shift, Monday through Friday, with some evening or weekend work during prime test campaigns
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or another related field
  • Avionics hardware build and test experience
  • Complex hardware design experience in product design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Knowledge of or experience in requirements development and requirements-based verification
  • Familiarity with integrated systems verification, including developing hardware verification test plans and verification test reports for certification/qualification
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Preferred: 6+ years of experience in design, development, or test of space-industry avionics components and systems
  • Experience developing digital, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit board designs for avionics systems
  • Experience in circuit analysis and simulation, including worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or P-Spice simulation
  • Experience with grounding and board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • Experience with Jama or similar requirements management tools
  • Experience with MIL-STD/DO-160/SMC-S-016 environmental qualification testing of avionics hardware
  • Familiarity with ARP 4754 and/or DO-254/DO-178 or similar standards
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycle phases
  • Familiarity with hardware development, integration, or verification
  • Required to complete Blue’s Standard Background Check
