Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an avionics engineer to develop, lead, and own digital, analog, and mixed-signal avionics designs for spaceflight programs. You will own boards through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and release to production, while supporting trade studies, performance characterization, and device selection.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, collaboration, and participation in mission assurance and safety initiatives. Travel 25–50% to Blue Origin locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related disciplines.
  • 2+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems.
  • Experience with analog, digital or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Familiar with MCUs, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, Op Amps, power supplies, memory types, and MOSFETs.
  • Knowledge of RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, PCIe.
  • Desire to work hands-on through development and production phases.
  • Ability to earn trust and collaborate effectively.
  • Travel 25-50% to Blue Origin locations if not based in Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and own digital, analog, and mixed-signal avionic designs.
  • Own avionics boards across full product lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Support avionics trade studies, performance characterization and device selection.
  • Support analyses like FMECA, WCCA, DFx, and root-cause investigations.
  • Participate in technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
