Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a skilled avionics engineer to design, test, and integrate digital, analog, and mixed-signal avionics boards. You will own boards end-to-end—from concept through production release—engaging in trade studies, device selection, and risk analyses.

This role supports mission assurance, safety initiatives, and cross-team collaboration across development phases. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with complex electronics, strong teamwork, and a readiness to travel.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 2+ years of avionics design and testing experience.
  • Broad electronics hardware development experience.
  • Experience with analog/digital/mixed-signal design and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding and board layout.
  • Familiar with MCUs, FPGAs, ADCs/DACs, op-amps, power supplies, memory, MOSFETs.
  • Knowledge of RS232/RS422/I2C/SPI/LVDS/Ethernet/CAN/PCIe.
  • Hands-on attitude across lifecycle.
  • Ability to earn trust and collaborate.
  • 25–50% travel to Blue Origin locations if not based in WA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own avionic circuit designs across the product lifecycle.
  • Own avionics boards from concept to production release.
  • Support avionics trade studies, performance characterization, and device selection.
  • Support risk analyses and design-for-test/manufacture/cost activities.
  • Participate in technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
