Job summary

ZimZee Recruiting is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for our Aviation client in Wichita, KS to design and implement embedded C software for avionics and battery management systems on aerospace platforms.

The role involves hands-on hardware work in a lab, evaluating new components, and developing tools to support manufacturing and verification of safety-critical products; prior DO-178C/DO-254 experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of embedded software design experience in the United States.
• Proficiency in C programming for embedded microcontroller systems.
• Hands-on lab experience with target hardware, debugging and testing.
• Experience with safety-critical software standards (RTCA DO-178C/DO-254) preferred.
• Familiarity with VHDL, C# app development, DFM/DFT, or PCB design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and debug embedded C software for bare-metal microcontroller-based systems, with opportunities to develop VHDL firmware for FPGA-based applications.
• Develop software solutions for avionics, power electronics, battery management, and other aerospace-related systems.
• Research and evaluate new components, technologies, and development methods to improve existing products and support new designs.
• Design and develop tools and applications that support manufacturing, calibration, testing, and verification of safety-critical products.
