Job summary

Zipline is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to own flight-critical software running on an embedded Linux system at our hardware/software boundary. You will drive diagnostics, validation infra, and field-ready production code affecting aircraft reliability and mission success.

Responsibilities include end-to-end avionics subsystems ownership, real-time driver development, and orchestrating hardware-in-the-loop and field testing with cross-functional teams to ensure safe

Qualifications

• Experience shipping embedded production code in C++ or Rust.
• Embedded Linux environments required; bare-metal/RTOS experience a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in EE/CS or equivalent with 5+ years in flight-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end avionics subsystems (GNSS, Cellular, IMU) and be the technical owner from design to production readiness.
• Deliver and maintain flight- and safety-critical code on embedded Linux with drivers and real-time interfaces.
• Define reliability and observability targets; instrument systems to detect regressions.
• Lead hardware-in-the-loop, bench, and field validation; create repeatable test plans.
