Job summary

Southwest Research Institute seeks an experienced Architect to design multi-partition avionics systems in an ARINC 653 environment. Lead teams through full development cycles from requirements to flight test, coordinating with customers and upper management.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, 8+ years in embedded architectures, and proficiency with RTOS environments, C/C++, and DO-178 artifacts. U.S. citizen; onsite work in San Antonio, TX or Dayton, OH.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years designing embedded architectures in RTOS multi-partition environments.
• Experience with RTOS development environments (Green Hills or DDC-I DEOS) and LDRA.
• Proficient in C/C++ and embedded software/hardware integration.
• 2-5 years leading development and test engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively develop avionics LRUs for airborne and ground systems across teams of Systems, Electrical, Software, Firmware and Mechanical engineering.
• Mentor and develop complex embedded systems through full lifecycle (requirements, design, V&V, qualification, flight test).
• Support marketing activities, write proposals, and help roadmaps for technology.
• Interface directly with clients and staff to define requirements and architectures.
