Job summary

The Bremerton School District is seeking an AVID Tutor to support middle-school students on the college track. You will work with B, C, and D students to boost engagement, study skills, and readiness for higher education.

Responsibilities include completing AVID Tutorial Training, collaborating with the AVID Coordinator, and monitoring student progress. Excellent math and English skills and a proactive, supportive approach are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18+ years of age.
• Must have college experience that includes a minimum 2.5 GPA; official transcript required.
• Current enrollment in college.
• Earned a college degree within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Complete mandatory AVID Tutorial Training.
• Assist students in any subject area using AVID resources.
• Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students.
• Communicate progress with the AVID coordinator/teacher.
• Monitor student notes and determine concepts needing acceleration.
• Conduct acceleration sessions in mathematics; strong math background preferred.
• Conduct mini-lessons in writing and study skills for college preparation.
• Evaluate student binders and calendars/notes.
• Assist in teaching study skills and college preparation.
• Maintain the tone and atmosphere of the AVID classroom.
