Salem-Keizer Public Schools seeks AVID Tutors to support students through small-group and one-on-one tutorials, applying AVID methodologies to foster college and career readiness.
Tutors guide students using Socratic questioning and collaborative learning, helping them achieve success across subject areas and develop independent learning strategies.
NOTE: If you do not have formal work history, please submit references (name, email, & phone number) for at least 2 volunteer work supervisors that you may have (ex. food share, church, team sport, babysitting, clubs, extra-curricular activities, school)
AVID Tutors are key to the success of the AVID program. Tutors are trained to use specific teaching methodologies and materials to work with AVID students. Tutors work with AVID students in study groups and individually, assisting them in all academic areas to make progresstowardcollege and career readiness skills.
AVID tutorials take place in small groups that are subject area specific. AVID tutors help students achieve their full potential by facilitating collaborative tutorial groups. Tutors use Socratic questioning and collaborative learning techniques to help the students come up with the answers to their questions on their own and by working with fellow students.
