Job summary

Fridley Public Schools is looking for AVID Classroom Tutors for middle and high school students. Your primary responsibility will be to support students in small groups, enhancing their skills in reading, writing, and math, and preparing them for college. Successful candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, with some college experience preferred.

The role is casual and offers flexible hours from Tuesday to Friday. We encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), women, and LGBTQ+ candidates to apply, as we value diversity and inclusion as part of our academic mission.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
• Ability to work well with students, staff and parents.
• Excellent observational skills.
• Good communication skills with students.
• Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Work with students in small groups to reinforce skills in reading and math.
• Assist students with writing processes and study skills.
• Set an example of excellence for AVID students.
• Communicate with the AVID coordinator/teacher(s).
• Attend tutor training.
