Job summary

School District 622 - North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale is seeking an AVID Tutor to support college-readiness efforts during the regular academic day (8:00am–3:00pm). The role emphasizes mentorship, role-modeling, and facilitation of student discussions to strengthen academic and personal skills.

Training will be provided and start date is Fall 2026. Compensation is $19.16 per hour, with a reduced rate of $11.41 per hour for current district students.

Summary
AVID is a college-readiness program that targets students who are "in the academic middle," but who have potential for higher performance. AVID tutors play an integral role in supporting the students through a rigorous curriculum by serving as role models and mentors, and by taking an active role in developing the academic and personal strength of AVID students. Tutor training in AVID will be provided.

Required Qualifications:

• Have the ability to work with middle and high school aged students
• Be confident working with assignments in a variety of subject areas and at various skill levels
• Serve as a role model and mentor
• Be competent and comfortable working with diverse populations
• Have the ability to facilitate small student discussion groups
• Be prepared to work collaboratively with AVID teachers, students and other tutors
• Be flexible and able to take initiative
• Participate in on-going professional development throughout the school year
