Job summary

TransMedics, Inc. seeks a Director of Safety & Security to lead the Safety Management System, collaborate with executives, and act as liaison with FAA/NTSB and other regulators.

Responsibilities include overseeing all safety programs, investigations, and training, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, and driving continuous safety improvement. This role requires travel and leadership experience in the aviation safety domain.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience with Part 121 or 135 air carrier, required.
• 3 years’ relevant work experience with air carrier safety, required.
• 2 years of prior leadership experience, required.
• Knowledge and operational experience of 14 CFR Part 91 and Part 135 operations, required.
• Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field of study, preferred

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with department heads to develop and execute the day-to-day management and administration of company safety programs.
• Develops the company’s Safety Management System, promoting safe actions and acting as liaison with FAA/NTSB and other regulators.
• Meets requirements as 14 CFR Part 119.65 Director of Safety and oversees safety training programs.
• Manages and improves safety programs such as ASAP, IEP, FRMP, TFFSP and safety promotions.
• Leads investigations of significant events independently from other departments.
• Oversees Emergency Response Plan and drills; reviews safety audits and risk management actions.
• Coordinates with leadership to ensure safety program integration across departments.
• Acts as Accident Investigation Team Leader and NTSB Party Coordinator when needed.
• Maintains confidentiality in all safety and security matters.
• Performs other TransMedics tasks as necessary.
