Job summary

Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, invites talented students to join a hands-on data management internship in Portland, OR for the summer of 2027. The program runs 12 weeks full-time with two timelines to fit different academic calendars, and interns may need to relocate to the internship city.

This role focuses on data collection and analysis within Maintenance Quality Assurance, developing tools and supporting audits, with the possibility of interaction across departments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics, Maintenance Analytics, Aviation Safety, Human Factors or related field.
• Excellent communication and MS Office Suite skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, handle multiple tasks, problem-solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
• Must read, write, and understand English.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.
• Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18 and must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• The primary area of focus is data management and assist the Maintenance Quality Assurance department.
• Daily responsibilities include data collection, data analysis, data entry, and project development.
• Develop tools for data collection to simplify analytical processes.
• Assist in streamlining pre and post-audit scheduling to aid in risk assessment.
• Research into known or suspected Maintenance department concerns, assisting in creating presentations, aid in reviewing manuals, and conducting audit research.
• Additional duties may involve interaction with other departments inside and outside of Maintenance.
