This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Aviation Project Design Manager for our Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) office. This position may also be based out of our Chicago, IL office. Be involved in the transformational AUS Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP) with our Aviation PM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

1. Manage the design process to ensure adherence with all codes, stakeholder requirements and AUS Design standards.
2. Consult with client on implementation of on-call designer's project task orders.
3. Provide and coordinate technical responses to inquiries from contractors, tenants, consultants, and other regulatory agencies.
4. Proactively collaborate with multiple design teams to ensure alignment of Program requirements and to communicate potential project risk.
5. Lead the early identification of project design goals and work with Project Managers to guide design to meet those goals.
6. Organize and oversee design and constructability reviews of several concurrent projects.
7. Assist with evaluation of change order requests, requests for information, and other change issues.
8. Ensure final project deliverables (As-Builts & O&M Manuals) are delivered in a timely manner and meet AUS Digital Governance requirements.
9. Provide risk management feedback on all assigned projects during design and into construction.
10. Assist in the permitting and planning of design processes to support AHJ review schedules.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or closely related discipline.
2. 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in the learned discipline.
3. Essential professional licensure/certification.
4. Proficient knowledge of architecture design and practices.
5. Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field.
6. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.
7. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
8. Knowledgeable of current technology with ability to utilize it effectively on the projects.
9. Ability to manage concurrent design processes and identify impacts projects may have on each other.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Architecture Degree with preference for Registered Architect.
2. Background in design/construction of airport facilities or performing construction in a complex operational environment.
3. Experience in local municipalities, codes, federal and state regulations.
