Job summary

FedEx Express seeks a skilled aircraft maintenance technician to provide safe, efficient maintenance including repair, engine run, taxi, and troubleshooting across MX locations. You will execute planned and unplanned tasks, communicate exceptions promptly, and produce accurate AML write-ups in a timely manner.

Requires a High School Diploma/GED, an active A&P license, and a valid driver’s license, with at least 36 months of turbine-powered aircraft experience above 12,500 lbs MEW.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, engine run, and taxi operations to minimize delays.
  • Troubleshoot aircraft issues and craft accurate write-ups with inputs in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to manuals and complete planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.
  • When on site without a manager, accept the daily work release plan.

Job description

Overview

Provide safe and efficient maintenance, including repair, engine run, taxi, and troubleshooting of aircraft at various MX locations as assigned to minimize delays, cancellations, and OOS impacts. Execute planned and unplanned maintenance tasks in accordance with the appropriate Manuals. Communicate exceptions as they occur and create accurate and complete write-ups with all inputs in a timely manner. Additionally, when there is no manager or lead onsite, accept the daily work release plan. Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education

High School Diploma/GED. Current A&P Licenses are required. Valid non-restricted driver's license from the state of residence.


Minimum Experience

Thirty-six (36) months of aircraft maintenance experience on turbine-powered aircraft that exceed 12,500 lbs. MEW. Previous experience does not include A&P school and training.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Ability to determine aircraft system failures, troubleshoot, and repair.

  • Proficient in using test equipment.

  • Ability to interpret and adhere to all A/C manuals.

  • Capability to attain engine run and taxi certifications as directed.

  • Capability to attain aircraft tow operator certification as directed.

  • Ability to complete all aircraft parts replacement procedures.

  • Skilled in maintaining and servicing aircraft systems in both line and hangar environments.

  • Proficient computer skills to access and complete electronic AML procedures and computer-based training modules.

  • Ability to meet all training requirements in a timely manner.

  • Aware of hazardous situations and capable of handling emergencies as needed.

  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment under specific deadlines and time constraints.

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work well under stress.

  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment effectively.

  • Effective communication skills to share information and instructions, both in writing and verbally.

  • Provides friendly service and maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Works cooperatively to ensure the success of the company.



  • Able to perform all job functions within cramped and confined spaces, heights, hazardous areas, and various weather conditions.

  • Capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and stooping frequently and for extended periods of time.

  • Supports, adheres to, and performs company and regulatory security-related directives.

  • Able to obtain required airport certifications and approval for airport access.

  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and maneuver heavy A/C related components, parts, and equipment regularly.

  • Willing and able to work with and mentor new and inexperienced team members.


Job Conditions

FAA covered safety-sensitive position. Subject to regulatory alcohol and drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. A valid non-restricted driver license from the state of residence is required.
