Job summary

FedEx is seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, engine runs, taxi, and troubleshooting across locations. You will follow manuals, communicate issues promptly, and document write-ups with accuracy.

When leadership isn’t onsite, you’ll accept the daily work release plan and contribute to team efforts. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, a current A&P license, a valid non-restricted driver’s license, and at least 36 months of turbine-powered aircraft maintenance

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current A&P license required with no restrictions.
  • Minimum 36 months of turbine-powered aircraft maintenance experience over 12,500 lbs MEW.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe and efficient maintenance, including repair, engine run, taxi and troubleshooting.
  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance per Manuals.
  • Communicate exceptions and write complete reports promptly.
  • When no manager is onsite, accept daily work release plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

Provide safe and efficient maintenance, including repair, engine run, taxi and troubleshooting aircraft at various MX locations as assigned to minimize delays, cancellations, and OOS impacts. Execute planned and unplanned maintenance tasks in accordance with the appropriate Manuals. Communicate exceptions as they occur and create accurate and complete write-ups with all inputs in a timely manner. Additionally, when there is no manager or lead onsite, accept the daily work release plan. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Minimum Education High School Diploma/GED. Current A & P Licenses required. Valid non-restricted driver’s license from the state of residence. Minimum Experience Thirty-six (36) months aircraft maintenance experience on turbine powered Aircraft that exceed 12500 lbs. MEW. Previous experience does not include A P school and training.

  • Must have ability to determine Aircraft System failures, troubleshoot, and repair.
  • Must be able to use test equipment.
  • Must be able to interpret and adhere to all A/C manuals.
  • Must be able to attain engine run and taxi certifications as directed.
  • Must be able to attain aircraft tow operator certification as directed.
  • Must be able to complete all Aircraft parts replacements procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain and service Aircraft systems in a Line and Hangar environment.
  • Must have sufficient computer skills to access and complete electronic AML procedures and computer-based training modules.
  • Must be able to meet all training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Must be aware of hazardous situations and be able to handle emergencies as needed.
  • Must be able to perform well in a fast-paced environment working under specific deadlines and time constraints to perform aircraft maintenance to meet the demands of the flight schedule.
  • Must work well with others as part of a team and work under stressful situations.
  • Must be able to remain alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate information and instructions in writing, verbally or via radio equipment.
  • Provides friendly service and maintains a positive relationship with Internal and External customers.
  • Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Company.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions within cramped and confined spaces, heights, hazardous areas, and various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods of time.
  • Must support, adhere, and perform company and Regulatory security related directives.
  • Must be able to obtain required airport certifications and approval of airport access.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and maneuver heavy A/C related components, parts & equipment regularly.
  • Must be willing and able to work with and mentor new and inexperienced team members.
Job Conditions
  • FAA covered safety sensitive position.
  • Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • A valid non-restricted driver license from the state of residence is required.
Pay Transparency Pay:

Pay: $49.88 - $54.08

In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
