Job summary

Whelen Engineering in Chester, CT, Aviation Division seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to create and develop new products and support existing aviation line. You will follow the design process from concept to assembly and test, applying core mechanical engineering concepts and pursue continuous learning.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Electrical Engineering and QA to solve engineering issues, ensure DO-160 environmental compliance, and coordinate FAA certification under FAR parts.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience or MS degree with 5-6+ years of experience.
• Proficient with SolidWorks or AutoCAD and related engineering software.
• Experience with PDM and PLM software and processes is preferred.
• Experience with materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design feasibility and testing methods to confirm system and product capabilities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Electrical Engineering and QA to resolve engineering issues and DO/PM related documentation.
• Support manufacturing of prototype and pre-production products.
• Prepare product reports by collecting and summarizing data and trends.
