Job summary

Avidyne Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and physically build cockpit display hardware. You will take concepts from CAD through DO-160 qualification, ensuring safety and performance while collaborating with seasoned engineers in a hands-on aviation environment.

Responsibilities include developing complex electromechanical devices, maintaining drawings and BOMs, and supporting certification and production activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 2+ years of industry experience (or a Master's with less experience).
  • Applied knowledge of mechanical design principles including stress analysis, thermal management, and structural mechanics.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and design documentation using SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes: sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, casting, injection molding.
  • Awareness of DO-160 environmental testing and FAA/EASA certification requirements for aviation electronics.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex electromechanical devices and electronics packaging for aircraft cockpit displays using advanced 3D modeling.
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and design records for certification and production.
  • Plan and execute design verification activities including structural analysis, thermal evaluation, and functional testing.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes, analyze test data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to transition designs to production while preserving design intent.
