Job summary

StandardAero is seeking an Aviation Manual Machinist to perform setup, calibration, maintenance and operation of machining equipment. Produce precision cuts on varied materials and cross-train in supportive skills to meet production needs.

You will read drawings, verify dimensions with precision tools, and adjust machines for accurate output while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years of manual mill and lathe machinist experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing, tool design and fabrication methods.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • Completion of machinist apprenticeship or equivalent, and trade certification.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation.
  • Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
  • Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy using calipers, gauges and micrometers; troubleshoots and modifies as needed.
  • Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by operators.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross-trains in complementary skills to support production requirements.
  • Moves between production assignments utilizing multiple skills endorsements as needed.
  • Participates in cross-training of other technicians as needed.
  • Observes safety requirements and reports unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.
