Qualifications

  • Willingness to work overtime if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair general aviation aircraft per FAA regs and UD standards.
  • Prepare and complete necessary documentation and maintenance logs.
  • Support maintenance of UD aircraft like Cessna Skyhawks and Piper Seminoles.
  • Coordinate with flight center staff to resolve maintenance discrepancies.
  • Assist with training of incoming work-study staff and equipment upkeep.

The Aviation Department at the University of Dubuque is seeking anAviation Maintenance Technician . The University of Dubuqueoffers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission,paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirementmatch.

Hours:

Monday - Friday, first shift with anticipation to movetowards Tuesday - Saturday

Position Summary:

An experienced Aircraft Mechanic holding a valid Airframe andPowerplant (A&P) license, responsible for the inspection,maintenance, and repair of general aviation aircraft, specificallyCessna Skyhawks and Piper Seminoles. Ensures all work is performedin accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications,and UD standards. Duties include routine scheduled maintenance,troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing engine and airframerepairs, and completing necessary documentation. Works closely withother maintenance personnel to ensure aircraft safety,airworthiness, and readiness for flight operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support and assist in the maintenance of UD aircraft andrelated equipment
  • Provide administrative and maintenance support to the Directorof Maintenance
  • Ensure maintenance of all UD aircraft in accordance withapplicable FAA, OSHA, and UD policies
  • Assist in reconciliation of aircraft maintenance logs and othermaintenance aircraft related documents
  • Assist with resolving discrepancies or other maintenancerelated issues by coordinating with flight center staff
  • Assist in training and onboarding of incoming work-studystaff
  • Perform other duties in support of the aviation department andthe University's Mission
Skills and Abilities:
  • Prior fixed-wing or rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experiencepreferred
  • Prior mechanical maintenance experience
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Must be able to lift at least 40lbs
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for long periodsoftime
  • Effective communication skills; both orally and writing
  • Exceptional skills using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to relate to a culturally diverse university communityand interact effectively with other as well as work collaborativelywith other departments
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; Associates DegreePreferred
  • A&P certificate required
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Flexibility with schedule when the need arises (potentialon-call, nights, and weekends)
  • Willingness to work overtime if needed
