Job summary

New River Community and Technical College seeks a Program Director/Instructor for Aviation Maintenance to lead the AMT program on campus. This full-time position reports to the Dean of Technical and Workforce Programs and involves direct oversight of curriculum, faculty, and FAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in aviation maintenance required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in aviation, aviation maintenance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical aviation maintenance experience with knowledge of 14 CFR Part 147 and supervisory/coordination experience.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the operation and continuous improvement of the Aviation Maintenance Technician Program.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA and institutional requirements.
  • Coordinate course scheduling, instructional sequencing, and FAA-approved locations.
  • Provide leadership to faculty and staff, including hiring support and performance management.
  • Oversee student records and graduation documentation.
  • Lead outreach, recruitment, and partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Maintain facilities and equipment in safe condition.
