Job summary

You will deliver instruction focused on powerplant topics, guiding students through theory and hands-on practice to build industry-ready skills. No prior teaching experience is required—we provide training to become an effective instructor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred bachelor's degree with aviation maintenance coursework.
• 5 years of practical field experience excluding teaching; powerplant experience is a plus.
• FAA A&P ratings and license highly valued; will pay to obtain if not current.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and empathy for students learning at their own pace.

Universal Technical Institute is seeking an Aviation Maintenance Instructor with a background in aircraft powerplant systems, including reciprocating and turbine engines. No prior teaching experience is required—we will train you to become an effective instructor.

Position Overview

As an Aviation Maintenance Instructor, you will deliver instruction focused on aircraft powerplant systems, beginning with reciprocating engine courses and progressing into turbine engine systems. You will guide students through both theory and hands-On application, ensuring they develop the knowledge and skills required for industry success.

Initial Course Assignments Include

• Reciprocating Engine and Engine Instruments
• Fuel Metering, Induction, and Exhaust Systems
• Ignition Systems
• Lubrication Systems and Propellers
• Engine Inspection and Overhaul

Additional Responsibilities Will Expand Into Turbine Engine Systems, Including

• Turbine engine design and operation
• Engine accessories and supporting systems
• Inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting

• Patience and Empathy: A patient and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that every student learns at their own pace
