Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Aviation Flight Trainer to provide in-flight airplane and helicopter instruction in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and CCBC Flight Training Policies. This part-time role includes coordinating student training, tracking progress, and ensuring course objectives are met.

Qualified candidates must have FAA Certificated Flight Instructor credentials and preferably an Associate's Degree. Part-time benefits include retirement plan options, free parking, and paid sick leave.

Qualifications

  • Proof of medical eligibility with FAA Medical Certificate or Basic Medical Course Completion.
  • Experience as a US military or Airline Flight Instructor is a plus.

Job description

Class Description

The Aviation Flight Trainer is responsible for providing in-flightairplane and helicopter instruction in accordance with FederalAviation Regulations parts 61 and 141, CCBC Flight TrainingPolicies, and assigned Flight Training Center and airportprocedures. Acts as pilot in command during training flights, endorses student pilots for solo and cross country flightoperations, and recommends students for FAA knowledge testing and flight evaluations.

Minimum Requirements

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Flight Instructorrequirements:

FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI). Proof of medicaleligibility with either a FAA Medical Certificate or Basic MedicalCourse Completion.

CFI-Instrument (CFII) preferred, CFI-Multi-Engine desirable. FAAThird Class Medical Certificate or higher required.

Education requirements:

Associate’s Degree preferred; experience as a US military orAirline Flight Instructor a plus.

Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Coordinates with the Aviation Program Director for studentflight training requirements.
  2. Maintains student records and keeps student logbooks current. Tracks student progress towards desired FAA pilot certificaterequirements.
  3. Ensures that course standards, training requirements, andobjectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in theapplicable Training Course Outline.
  4. Instructs students on proper aircraft pre-flight procedures,flight planning, weather avoidance, and aeronautical decisionmaking.
  5. Endorses students for solo and cross country flightoperations.
  6. Instructs students on pilotage, dead-reckoning, radionavigation techniques, and required flight maneuvers.
  7. Promotes an environment of professionalism and a positivesafety culture.
  8. Monitor the maintenance condition of training aircraft andinform the Flight Training Center and CCBC of any questionableissues.
  9. Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements whenappropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware asassigned.

Perform other administrative duties as required.

Employees maycontribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b)post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combinedfor the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.

    Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYAFinancial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorizationform is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/HumanResources Forms.

Parking

Free. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of PublicSafety to use on all campuses.
