Job summary

Ardurra is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern to join our team in Charlotte, NC for the summer 2027. You will support engineering assignments that contribute to the planning, design, and construction of airport infrastructure.

This internship is designed to give you exposure to real world engineering work, build your technical skills, and help you explore a future career in the aviation engineering industry.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Exposure to AutoCAD or Civil 3D is preferred.
• Interest in airport design, aviation infrastructure, FAA standards, or transportation engineering is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and work ethic.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Team-oriented and able to work with a team of professionals and independently.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Bluebeam and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing plan details and design components for airport projects.
• Support preparation of technical specifications and project documentation.
• Assist with researching design options and presenting findings to project managers.
• Review design drawings and contribute to quality control efforts.
• Prepare sections of technical memoranda and assist with project reports.
• Perform material quantity take-offs and obtain budgetary quotes for cost estimating.
• Assist in developing construction cost estimates for aviation projects.
• Support project managers by monitoring workload and documenting scope changes.
• Perform field tests, measurements, and data collection for aviation design.
• Assist with construction inspection and on-site project representation.
• Prepare daily field reports and assist with construction oversight tasks.
• Assist with project communications, including client interactions under supervision.
• Provide miscellaneous project support to meet deadlines and client expectations.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Assume additional responsibilities to support team goals.
