Job summary

Ardurra is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern in Wilmington, NC for summer 2027. You will support planning, design, and construction of airport infrastructure, gaining real-world experience and developing technical skills under supervision.

Responsibilities include preparing plan details, technical specifications, and cost estimates, conducting field tests, and assisting with project reports and client communications. Strong organization and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Exposure to AutoCAD or Civil 3D is preferred.
• Interest in airport design, aviation infrastructure, FAA standards, or transportation engineering is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and work ethic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Team-oriented and able to work with a professional team under supervision.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Bluebeam and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assists with preparing plan details, outlines, and design components for airport infrastructure projects.
• Supports preparation of technical specifications and project documentation.
• Assists with researching design options and presenting findings to managers/engineers.
• Reviews design drawings and contributes to quality control efforts.
• Prepares sections of technical memoranda and assists with project reports.
• Performs material quantity take-offs and requests budgetary quotes for cost estimating.
• Assists in developing construction cost estimates for aviation projects.
• Supports project managers by monitoring workload and documenting scope changes.
• Conducts field tests, measurements, and data collection for aviation design.
• Assists with construction inspection and on-site representation during active seasons.
• Prepares daily field reports and helps with construction oversight tasks.
• Supports project communications, including client interactions under supervision.
• Provides miscellaneous project support to meet deadlines and client expectations.
• Collaborates with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary team members.
