Job summary

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Project Manager for the Aviation Capital Plan and Major Maintenance Program. This role requires day-to-day management of multiple projects, from initiation through closeout, with occasional work-from-home days and on-site collaboration at airports in the portfolio.

You will coordinate with engineering teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure compliance with agency processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience leading the design, construction, and/or project management of infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.
• Possess valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project scope of work based on a statement of problem, inputs from facility, engineering and stakeholders, or a desired outcome.
• Establish project economics and timeline in conjunction with the appropriate stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Department to retain necessary internal and external resources, including appropriate professional services, to advance assigned projects to conceptual/preliminary design or final design and construction. Ensure staff budgets are appropriate and maintained throughout the project.
• Advancement of projects in planning, design, construction and closeout through established milestones and project schedules, developing and implementing recovery plans for unanticipated delays.
• Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with appropriate parties to ensure the project scope, schedule, and budget are maintained.
• Interact with Port Authority staff departments and outside agencies to establish agreements, force accounts and the like in support of project work.
• Take the lead in establishing project risk parameters, completing risk assessments, and developing the appropriate risk contingency plans.
• Prepare project status reports for supervisors, senior, and/or executive staff on a periodic basis.
• Prepare the necessary material/presentations for capital project authorization process.
• Management of design and construction activities to ensure that all phases of work are completed within budget, contracted schedule, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Ensure projects are properly completed and closed out in accordance with established agency processes.
