Responsibilities

  • Escalation resource for frontline support and student workers.
  • Monitor system health using Xyte Device Cloud, Zoom Admin Portal, Logitech Sync.
  • Develop SOPs, guides, and room documentation; document workflows.
  • Support deployment and scaling of Zoom Rooms across spaces.
  • Collaborate with AV engineering, vendors, and integrators on upgrades.
  • Provide livestreaming and hybrid event support; operate production systems.
  • Create training materials and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.

Job description

Role Overview

The AV Systems Operations Specialist supports the daily operation, reliability, sustainment, and ongoing enhancement of audiovisual (AV), unified communications (UC), and production technology systems across instructional, collaboration, and event spaces within CDSS.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily on‑site position supporting active instructional, collaboration, and event spaces.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work during major events, deployments, or maintenance windows.
  • Ability to move AV equipment up to approximately 40 lbs and access equipment racks, ceilings, and service spaces.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 2/3 operational and technical support for AV and UC systems in classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, and event spaces (approximately 90 AV‑enabled spaces).
  • Troubleshoot and support issues involving Crestron‑controlled environments, DM‑NVX, AV‑over‑IP systems, Zoom Rooms, PTZ cameras, DSP platforms (Q‑SYS), wireless microphones, displays, and UC hardware platforms (Logitech).
  • Serve as an escalation resource for frontline support teams, student workers, and operational staff.
  • Monitor and maintain system health using Xyte Device Cloud, Zoom Admin Portal, Logitech Sync, and other monitoring platforms.
  • Support preventative maintenance, lifecycle management, firmware updates, system testing, configuration verification, inventory tracking, asset management, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, troubleshooting guides, room documentation, escalation procedures, operational workflows, and identify recurring operational issues.
  • Support the deployment, maintenance, and scaling of Zoom Rooms across CDSS spaces, including feature expansion and hybrid meeting workflows.
  • Collaborate with AV engineering teams, vendors, and integrators on system upgrades, technology rollouts, operational testing, deployment readiness, and implementation of enhancements such as Collab compute integrations, One Beyond, VIZRT.
  • Provide support for livestreaming, hybrid events, recordings, lectures, and high‑visibility campus events; operate and maintain production‑related systems including switchers, encoders, PTZ cameras, audio interfaces, lighting, and streaming infrastructure.
  • Develop scalable training and enablement materials, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for support teams and stakeholders.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience supporting enterprise AV, UC, classroom technology, or production technology environments.
  • Strong operational troubleshooting experience with Crestron ecosystems, Zoom Rooms, AV‑over‑IP systems, DSP platforms (Q‑SYS), PTZ camera systems, and enterprise collaboration technologies.
  • Experience supporting livestreaming, hybrid collaboration, or production workflows.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, SOPs, and operational processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder‑support skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast‑paced operational environments.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt to evolving operational needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CTS certification or equivalent industry certification.
  • Experience supporting higher education, enterprise collaboration, or large‑scale AV environments.
  • Familiarity with NDI ecosystems.
  • Experience with lecture capture platforms such as Panopto or Kaltura.
  • Exposure to AV deployments, commissioning, or systems integration workflows.
  • Familiarity with scripting, automation, or monitoring integrations.
  • Exposure to Crestron programming environments or advanced control system workflows.
  • CTS Preferred, CTS‑D Preferred, DM NVX Certified Engineer Preferred.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. The anticipated hiring range is $33.57/hr – $45.38/hr. The salary range for UC employees in comparable roles is $33.57/hr – $59.72/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
