Visual Sound is seeking a Field Service Technician in Mechanicsburg, PA to install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain AV systems on client sites, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The role requires hands-on work, documentation, and strong cross‑functional collaboration.

The candidate should have 3+ years of related AV experience and be proficient with AMX, Crestron, DSP, and networking gear, with excellent communication skills and the ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience servicing audiovisual systems.
• Basic knowledge of industry software such as AMX, Crestron and DSP setup.
• Experience with Sony, Barco, NEC, AMX and other common AV manufacturers.
• Experience with Cisco / Extron Switchers.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and wear multiple hats at once.
• Outstanding customer service ability and strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, and training manuals.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.

Responsabilités

• Provide on-site and preventative service calls to customer job sites.
• Troubleshoot complex audio, video, and control systems (involving projection, control and switchers).
• Arrange for product returns and/or exchanges with the service coordinator.
• Install, modify, and test integrated systems and interface between Project Manager & client.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments and staff, as needed.
• Provide technical phone support to customers and internal staff.
• Provide case numbers and close‑out paperwork in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate product and system capabilities to clients at all levels.
• Provide documentation including maintenance reports and job costing records.
• Develop and promote the company's presence as a service provider in the market.

Description

Visual Sound is seeking a Field Service Technican in Mechanicsburg, PA. The Field Service Technican plays a critical role in ensuring optimal performance of audio-visual integration systems. This position involves hands‑on installation, testing, troubleshooting integrated systems, repairing components, quality control, and preventative maintenance of AV equipment on client sites. The Field Service Technician acts as a pivotal link between technical expertise and customer satisfaction by providing on‑site repairs, technical training, and exceptional support to our client base.

Please be advised that our office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide on‑site and preventative service calls to customer job sites.
• Troubleshoot complex audio, video, and control systems (includes replacing and/or repairing LCD/DLP/CRT projection systems, video/audio systems control and switchers).
• Arrange for product returns and/or exchanges with the service coordinator.
• Install, modify, and test integrated systems (includes selecting, setup, and operation of standard test equipment) and interfacing between Project Manager & client.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments and staff, as needed.
• Provide technical phone support (e.g., answer questions, troubleshoot suggestions) to customers and internal staff.
• Provide Service Coordinators with assigned case numbers and close‑out paperwork / information in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate product and system capabilities to all levels of clients, including one‑on‑one situations.
• Provide all documentation in a timely manner (e.g., material and labor reports, preventative maintenance reports, expense reports, job costing records, time sheets, etc).
• Develop and promote the company's presence as a service provider in the assigned market.
• Establish and support customers utilizing personal selling skills and contacts.
• Perform other activities and responsibilities as directed by management.

Position Requirements

• At least 3+ years of related experience servicing audiovisual systems
• Basic knowledge of industry software such as AMX, Crestron and DSP setup
• Experience with Sony, Barco, NEC, AMX and other common AV manufacturers
• Experience with Cisco / Extron Switchers.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced environments and wear multiple hats at once
• Outstanding customer service ability and strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, and training manuals
• Ability to operate multi-meter, oscilloscope and other related industry and test equipment
• Computer literate (e.g., Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and scheduling programs)
• Detail oriented and self‑sufficient with excellent time management skills
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
